Introduction to Graduate Programs

The overall principle of graduate education in the School of Life Sciences is based on mentor responsibility, school supervision and differentiated training, aiming to cultivate five basic research skills in graduate students: reading, working, thinking, speaking, and writing. We have a systematic graduate training program, including a comprehensive curriculum, annual assessments, qualifying exams, mid-term assessments, and pre-defense evaluations. The training of academic ethics and research skills of graduate students is particularly emphasized. The school also actively explores new mechanisms for graduate admissions and training, such as the "4+4 Direct PhD Track" program. This program attempts to bridge the gap between undergraduate and graduate education without changing the credit and time requirements for the bachelor's degree. By optimizing the training processes, it shortens the duration of doctoral study to 4 years, improving training efficiency, and achieving a doctoral education quality that matches world-class universities.
