Research Interests

Our lab is interested in three major research fields:

  1. Functional and structural studies on human diseases (especially cancer and inflammation) related proteins.
  2. Mechanism of protein-RNA interaction.
  3. Antivirals on influenza virus and mechanism of preS antigen in HBV infection.

The study of novel proteins with important biological functions is of particular interests to us. To identify and further understand the structures and functions of novel proteins will help in the prediction of protein structures and the discovery of functional relationships of proteins to their structures, as well as protein engineering of industrial enzymes and structure-based drug design. Our targets include the proteins related to human diseases and some novel proteins with functions previously unknown. In addition to determine the crystal structures of these proteins, we take molecular, biochemical and cellular approaches to investigate the biological roles of these proteins, to understand the molecular mechanisms of protein-protein interactions, the biological pathways involved and their relationships to human diseases.
